In Black Noise, Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike, I Am Number Four) and Jackson Rathbone (Twilight) star as Jordan and Leo, members of an elite security team who are sent to rescue a corporate VIP from an exclusive island. However, the rescue mission goes haywire when the team is beset by a strange frequency that causes them to see illusions and have suicidal thoughts.

Based on the footage released, it appears the film is creating tension around the notion of whether the source of the strange frequency is a mythological siren or some sort of technological warfare innovation gone wrong.

In Greek mythology, sirens were humanlike sea creatures who first appeared in the ancient epic, the Oddysey.  Their singing voices would lure sailors to jump overboard or ship captains to crash into rocks.

The film is described as a mix of action, sci-fi and, horror, leading us to believe that the mysterious threat is potentially more supernatural than science-based. That would definitely tie in with the film being released close to Halloween.  However, we'll have to wait until the film's release to verify if a siren is the source.

In addition to Pettyfer and Rathborne, the film also stars Eve Mauro (CSI: Miami, Age of the Living Dead), Wayne Gordon (Final Fantasy XVI, Into the Badlands), Ashton Leigh (The Winchesters, Ambitions), Sadie Newman (Holmes & Watson, Law & Order: SVU), and Niki Spiridakos (Blonde Ambition).

Phillippe Martinez (Wake of Death, The Island) directs from a script he also wrote alongside Sean-Michael Argo (Jeepers Creepers: Reborn) and Leigh Scott (The Penny Dreadful Picture Show, Quantum Apocalypse).

The film is rated R for violence, suicide and language and has a runtime of 86 minutes.

Saban Films will make Black Noise available for purchase via digital and VOD on November 3.

An elite team of security contractors is deployed to rescue a VIP on an exclusive island. They discover the island devoid of human life: the neighborhoods abandoned, the streets eerily vacant. As they press further into the island, they are confronted by masked gunmen, deadly, unknown technology and an unfamiliar droning sound that is inescapable. As the threats intensify so does the sound, gaining in volume and deadly side effects. The rescue mission evolves into a desperate attempt to survive, escaping the island and the sinister presence that seeks to harm them.
