All four John Wick films come off HBO Max on Friday, July 31st. That part has been on the calendar for weeks.
Where they go afterwards is still an open question.
Lionsgate hasn't named a service. Neither has HBO Max. No streamer has announced a pickup, and with three days left on the clock that silence may be the answer itself.
What We Know Right Now
As of today, all four films stream on HBO Max and nowhere else by subscription. The original, Chapter 2, Parabellum and Chapter 4 all carry the same Friday removal date.
After that, the only guaranteed way to watch any of them on demand is to rent or buy. Amazon, Apple TV and Fandango at Home all carry the set (they always have). A film you've paid for outright doesn't disappear when a licensing deal lapses, which is the argument for owning the ones you want to rewatch.
You'll see people say Starz is picking them up. Be careful with that one, because it's a real fact attached to the wrong films.
Ballerina is on Starz right now, and it's also still on HBO Max, running on both at once. It came out in 2025, after Lionsgate's newer output deal kicked in, so it sits on a different set of contracts than the four older films. Its Starz deal says nothing about where the original run goes.
Why This Franchise Keeps Moving
Lionsgate licenses these films out in fixed windows instead of leaving them on one service, which is why the franchise has bounced around for years. A deal runs its term, the films come down, and somebody else bids.
It happens because the library is worth fighting over. The 2014 original did roughly $86 million worldwide on a $20 million budget, Chapter 2 roughly doubled that at $172 million, Parabellum hit $327 million, and Chapter 4 topped out at $425 million. Four films, north of a billion dollars, and each one bigger than the previous one. That almost never happens, and it's why nobody expects these to sit unlicensed for long.
Lionsgate and Starz separated into standalone companies back in May 2025, which makes the guessing harder. Starz is now an independent licensee bidding on this catalog like anybody else, not the default landing spot people assume it is.
The Continental, the three-part prequel about a young Winston Scott, is still on Peacock and isn't flagged as leaving. It got canceled after one season, but the season that exists stays up.
There's a decent chance this resolves quickly, for what it's worth. The gap between one deal ending and the next starting is often just a few weeks. It's the not knowing that can be annoying, especially if you were halfway through a rewatch.
If you want the four films, watch them on HBO Max before Friday or plan on renting. If a service announces a pickup this week, it'll be news, and right now there isn't one.
