Fresh off the buzz generated by Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’s slick poster drop, Lionsgate has unveiled a dozen hard-hitting character one-sheets for Ballerina, its next adrenaline rush from the John Wick universe. Front and center is Academy Award nominee Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro, a newly minted Ruska Roma assassin hell-bent on avenging the slaughter of her family. Each poster radiates neo-noir menace, showcasing allies, enemies, and wild cards who will either help Eve sharpen her blade or fall beneath it.
Standing at the top of her kill list is a name that echoes through Continental corridors: John Wick. Keanu Reeves reprises the Baba Yaga in what appears to be an adversarial turn, charged with stopping Eve’s vendetta—by diplomacy if possible, by a bullet if necessary. Their inevitable showdown is already fueling speculation: Can Eve’s raw fury stand against Wick’s mythic lethality, or will the Boogeyman find himself outmatched by the very world he helped shape?
Set in the narrow window between John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4, Ballerina aims to fill crucial narrative gaps. How did Wick recover from his rooftop tumble? What deals were struck with the Ruska Roma? And with Lionsgate confirming John Wick 5, many fans believe this spin-off will plant the seeds for the legendary hitman’s improbable return from Chapter 4’s apparent finale.
For de Armas, the role is reportedly the most physically punishing of her career—surpassing even her breakout turn as Paloma in No Time to Die. Director Len Wiseman promises a ballet of gun fu, knife work, and close-quarters brawls shot in long, breathless takes. If the posters’ grim elegance is any indication, Ballerina is on track to deliver one of summer’s most ferocious box-office duels when it pirouettes into theaters this June.
In addition to Ana de Armas (Knives Out; No Time to Die; Ghosted), the film also features Keanu Reeves (The Matrix; Speed; Sonic the Hedgehog 3) as the legendary John Wick, with a supporting cast consisting of Anjelica Huston (The Addams Family; Prizzi’s Honor), Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects; Miller's Crossing), the late Lance Reddick (John Wick; The Wire), Catalina Sandino Moreno (Maria Full of Grace; The Affair), Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead; Boondock Saints), Ian McShane (Deadwood; John Wick), Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Enola Holmes 2; Dune), and David Castañeda (Poker Face; The Umbrella Academy).
Len Wiseman (Underworld; Live Free or Die Hard) helmed the spinoff, while Shay Hatten (John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum; Army of the Dead) penned the script. Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Chad Stahelski are attached as producers.
