A lot of great actors have played James Bond over the years, but only one of them has bid farewell to the character in the same explosive fashion as Daniel Craig. In No Time to Die, he killed 007 in a heroic sacrifice that brought his tenure as Bond to an end in a definitive fashion.
Before Craig took over as the iconic Ian Fleming creation in 2006's Casino Royale, Piece Brosnan played the spy in Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day. The latter was released in 2002, and marked an end of an era for the franchise before Craig grounded the character in reality with that reboot.
Brosnan will return to a world of action with this October's Black Adam, and when he was recently asked by British GQ (via Belfast Telegraph) who he would like to see as the next Bond...well, the actor made it clear he really doesn't care!
"Who should do it? I don’t care, it’ll be interesting to see who they get, who the man shall be, whoever he be, I wish him well," Brosnan stated. "I saw the last one, and I saw Skyfall, I love Skyfall."
"I’m not too sure about the last one," he said of No Time to Die. "Daniel always gives of his heart. Very courageous, very strong. But..."
If we had to hazard a guess, Brosnan didn't necessarily approve of Bond being killed, a sentiment echoed by many fans. While we know the reboot will bring 007 back from the dead, killing the character feels like closing the door on him in some ways, especially as he's always lived to fight another day over the decades from actor to actor.
We recently got a disappointing update about when the next Bond actor will be revealed, but hope that some news might come our way in 2023.
Who do you think should be the next James Bond?
