Dan Stevens Says He's Unsure If THE GUEST 2 Will Ever Get Made; Praises The Late Lance Reddick

Based on recent comments from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's Dan Stevens, it doesn't sound as if there's a high probability that The Guest will ever receive a sequel.

Will fans of 2014's The Guest ever get that long-teased sequel? Ironically, a soundtrack for The Guest 2 was released, however there's never been any official word on whether  a bonafied follow-up will ever happen.

Dan Stevens, who starred as David Collins in the film, admitted that he doesn't know if a sequel to The Guest will ever get made, stating, "But I don’t know is the real answer. That really is a question that’s much more for Adam and Simon than for myself."

"I would always leap at the chance to work with either of them. There are so many other projects that we are talking about collaborating on as well, and The Guest II might be among them, but I could neither confirm nor deny at this stage."

He went on to add that there's a strong possibility that he's not finished with his Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire character, which could very well be the next project that the team of director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett tackles.

Wingard recently stated that coming out The New Empire, there are three options on the table in terms of his next project- a live-action Thundercats movie, a Face/Off sequel, and a third Godzilla film.

"David was a great, great character, and I was very, very lucky to get to work on that with Adam. But Trapper is an equally great character that might have some more mileage in him, and I’d love to see further life in him, so we’ll see. At the very least, I hope I get to work with Adam and Simon again on something," said Stevens.

To close out the interview, Stevens paid his respects to the late great Lance Reddicks, who co-starred in The Guest.

"And so I just remember that Lance had such class and such elegance about him. The way that he played that role had such gravity, and the seriousness was so cool. And there is a kind of impish quality to a film like The Guest, but particularly for the role of David."

"He’s [frick]ing with [Carver and his team] and he knows exactly how he’s going to outsmart them, and that’s part of the fun of that film."

The Guest was released in theaters on September 17, 2014 and grossed $2.7M from a production budget of $5M. However the film found a second life on Netflix, where it became a cult classic.

The film holds a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes from over 100 reviews.
