Netflix has released a new teaser for Extraction 2 that spoils one of the sequel's biggest surprises: the addition of Chris Hemsworth's fellow MCU vet, Idris Elba!
The actor played Heimdall in the Thor franchise and reunites with his co-star here as someone who may well be the movie's villain based on his interaction with mercenary Tyler Rake. It's possible he's an old ally, of course, but we're excited to see what the Luther: Fallen Son star brings to the table either way.
We're guessing Elba's role has been revealed now in order to increase the excitement for the movie. After all, Netflix will be hoping Extraction 2 can tempt moviegoers away from theatrical releases The Flash and Pixar's Elemental. Based on everything we've seen so far, it looks like one heck of a ride.
"After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary," reads the sequel's synopsis, "tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held."

In Extraction, Hemsworth reunites with director Sam Hargrave, with Joe and Anthony Russo's AGBO producing and Joe Russo writing. Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the first film, while Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili also co-star.
The first movie was based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, from a story by Ande Parks, Joe Russo & Anthony Russo, with illustrations by Fernando León González.
The sequel is produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Chris Hemsworth, Patrick Newall and Sam Hargrave, with Angela Russo-Otstot, Jake Aust, Benjamin Grayson, Steven Scavelli, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely serving as executive producers.
Extraction 2 hits Netflix on June 16, later this year.
