FAST & FURIOUS: John Cena Weighs In On The Feud Between Dwayne Johnson And Vin Diesel

The behind-the-scenes rivalry between Fast & Furious stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson has become the stuff of legend, and asked to weigh in on that, John Cena explains why "there can be only one."

Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel's feud has made headlines for years, but they finally decided to put their differences aside last year. That led to The Rock making a surprise appearance in Fast X's mid-credits scene, setting the stage for Hobbs to appear in Fast & Furious 11, likely the last movie in the series.

There are, however, also plans for another spin-off revolving around Hobbs, and no one was really that surprised to see Johnson return to one of his most successful franchises after Black Adam didn't quite soar the way he hoped.

John Cena is no stranger to Fast & Furious or feuding with Johnson; in the early 2010s, they squared off in the wrestling ring for WWE, though their bitter rivalry extended outside the squared circle and into their interactions behind the scenes.

They've since put their differences aside - despite recently clashing at WrestleMania - and Cena has now chimed in on Diesel and The Rock's beef while appearing on the Armchair Expert podcast.

"There’s certainly rumors about that. I can’t deny that," Cena said. "You have two very alpha, driven people. You get two, there can only be one."

As for how it felt for him to be welcomed into a franchise full of alpha males, the Peacemaker star added, "Man, you gotta remember I got dropped into a locker room where [we have] generational vets. 'What’d your dad do?' 'Wrestle.' 'What’d your granddad do?' 'Wrestle.' I’ve been in that environment; know the room and just kind of adapt to what’s going on."

"I’m being invited into someone’s home, into someone’s family. And regardless of how they look physically in comparison to another human being, this is one IP that has had nine installments and it’s an action movie - that’s rarefied air," Cena continued. "At the very least, there has to be respect for that."

It doesn't sound like Cena is angling for a spin-off revolving around Jakob Toretto as he'd go on to say, "I’m not trying to get the sandbox. That’s not my thing. I’m grateful for what you’ve given me, I just want to be the best firetruck I can."

The feud between Johnson and Dielsel began when the former called an unnamed co-star a "candy ass" and "chicken shit" on social media. Diesel responded by saying he gave The Rock some "tough love" regarding his performance and it all went downhill from there.

They're all good now, though, and we'll likely see them share the screen again in Fast & Furious 11 on April 4, 2025.
