Say what you will about the Fast & Furious franchise, but there's arguably not a better series out there at retconning past events in order to tell new stories!

That looks set to be the case in this summer's Fast X because the new Super Bowl trailer for the movie reveals Jason Momoa's Dante is, in fact, a familiar face from the past...we just haven't met him before! As you can see below, it appears he's the son of Fast Five villain Hernan Reyes and is now out to make Dom pay for his past transgressions.

It's a clever twist and one that's going to lead to the return of other big-name characters

Elsewhere, there's plenty of nostalgia and action to be found, including a ridiculously over-the-top stunt involving a car and two helicopters (it's awesome) and a badass fight featuring Letty and Cypher.

The movie's returning stars include Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Michael Rooker, and Scott Eastwood. It was also recently confirmed that Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot will return as Gisele Yashar despite the character's death in Fast & Furious 6.

As for franchise newcomers, we can expect to see Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Daniela Melchoir (The Suicide Squad), and Alan Ritchson (Titans).

Based on the characters created by Gary Scott Thompson, the latest instalment takes the family around the globe from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tbilisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.

Fast & Furious 10, a.k.a. Fast X, is set to race into theaters on May 19.

Eh, last one finally crossed the line into being a slog to get through and this looks just as bloated. At least they're having a good old race in this one, hopefully it's just a normal one with a nice practical stunt or 2.
