The reviews for Fast X have been counted, and it's not good news for the long-running racing series. However, things are looking a lot brighter when it comes to the movie's chances of box office success.

The reviews are in for Fast X and, well, it's pretty much exactly what we expected from the critic-proof action franchise.

With 117 verdicts currently counted, the latest Fast & Furious movie has a disappointing 57% score on Rotten Tomatoes. This is actually in line with F9: The Fast Saga, a movie which received 59% in 2021. The first four movies all have "Rotten" scores, though movies five through eight (along with Hobbs & Shaw) were all deemed "Fresh," with the seventh even "Certified Fresh."

As for Fast X's Critics Consensus, it reads: "As irredeemably silly as it is satisfyingly self-aware, Fast X should rev the engines of longtime fans while leaving many newcomers in neutral."

Why did we call the franchise critic proof?

As of now, current box office projections point to an opening weekend anywhere between $58 - $73 million, with a $280 million - $300 million global haul likely. Poor reviews are unlikely to dissuade fans from watching Fast X, though it will face stiff competition from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

That threequel is aiming for $29 million - $35 million, and may well once again exceed expectations.

Based on the characters created by Gary Scott Thompson, Fast X takes the family around the globe from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tbilisi.

Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.
