The first official trailer for Ridley Scott's long-awaited historical action epic, Gladiator II, has been released online, and it promises to be as epic as expected. Ridley Scott returns to direct this highly anticipated sequel to his blockbuster film Gladiator, which starred Russell Crowe as Maximus Decimus Meridius and Joaquin Phoenix as Commodus. The original Gladiator, released in 2000, grossed over $465.4 million globally on a production budget of approximately $100 million. It won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and is frequently regarded as one of the greatest movies ever made. Given this legacy, the sequel certainly has high expectations to meet.
