There's a huge amount of excitement for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and another screening recently took place at the BFI London Film Festival.
The reactions coming out of that have been overwhelmingly positive, though a revelation from director Rian Johnson has generated a lot of chatter online. According to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi filmmaker, Daniel Craig's Detective Benoit Blanc will be revealed as an openly gay man in the upcoming Knives Out sequel.
"Yes, he obviously is," Johnson stated after a scene was shown with Blanc living with a currently unidentified male character. "And there's nobody in the world I can imagine in bringing me more joy for Benoit Blanc to be with."
While it appears this revelation stems from only one scene in Glass Onion, we're sure this creative decision will make a lot of fans of this murder mystery franchise very happy. Craig's Detective was a hit following the release of the first movie in 2019, and this glimpse into his personal life - which is also a big step forward for representation on screen - is a real bonus.
If Knives Out was about the murderous ties of flesh and blood, Glass Onion makes a good case for being just as wary of one's closest friends. When a tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invites some of his nearest and dearest for a getaway on his private Greek island, it soon becomes clear that all is not perfect in paradise.
And when someone turns up dead, well, who better than Blanc to peel back the layers of intrigue?
Also joining Craig this time around will be Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick and Madelyn Cline, with Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will arrive on Netflix on December 23, though it is expected to play in theaters the week preceding that date.
