INDIANA JONES 5 Still Shows Boyd Holbrook's Villain; Harrison Ford And James Mangold On Ending The Franchise

Indiana Jones 5 will take place in 1969, with the iconic adventurer set to get involved with the race to land a man on the moon. Empire reports that we can expect a major action setpiece to take place during the Apollo 11 ticker tape parade in New York City, and a first look at Boyd Holbrook's villainous Klaber has now been revealed.

We don't know much about the character, but the Logan star tells the magazine that, "I’m a lapdog to Mads [Mikkelsen], and a crazy one at that."

Understandably, there's a huge amount of excitement for the next Indiana Jones movie, though it's previously been confirmed that this fifth instalment will be Harrison Ford's final appearance as the character. For the legendary actor, now was the right time to bid well to perhaps his most famous role.

"I just thought it would be nice to see one where Indiana Jones was at the end of his journey," Ford explains. "If a script came along that I felt gave me a way to extend the character."

For director James Mangold, "It became really important to me to figure out how to make this a movie about a hero at sunset," he says, explaining that it was a priority for him to take this movie further in that direction. "The issues I brought up about Indy’s age were not things I thought were being addressed in the material being developed at the time."

"There were ‘old’ jokes, but the material itself wasn’t about it," the filmmaker adds. "To me, whatever your greatest liability, you should fly straight towards that. If you try to pretend it’s not there, you end up getting slings and arrows the whole way."

We have a feeling this movie is going to be something really special, and a do-over for Ford after the disappointing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Indiana Jones 5 is set to be released in theaters on June 30, 2023.
