Thanks to Total Film, we have a new look at John Wick: Chapter 4! These stills not only reunite Keanu Reeves with his The Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne, but also offer a first look at martial arts legend Donnie Yen as Caine, a former ally of Wick's who is a blind assassin and High Table member.
For all we know, he could be the next character to get a spin-off; later this year, The Continental, starring Mel Gibson and Colin Woodell, heads to television. Then, there's the Ballerina movie starring Ana de Armas as a Ruska Roma dance assassin.
Underworld helmer Les Wiseman steps in to direct that, and Reeves had high praise for what the filmmaker is bringing to the table. "It’s a cool story," the actor teases. "Len Wiseman has a vision, but is also embracing, affectionately, the world of John Wick. Ian McShane is in it as Winston."
"So I felt that there was a cool handoff of stewardship, and it was fun to put the suit on again, however briefly," Reeves says of his cameo. "There’s a reason for [John] to be in Ballerina; it’s very organic. And working with Ana was great. She really loves action, and she’s really good at it."
As for where things stand with John Wick: Chapter 5, Reeves was a little more coy with his answer.
"You have to see how the audience responds to what we did. The only reason we’ve had a chance to make these movies is that people have liked what we have done. So I think we have to wait and see how the audience responds to it. Hopefully they’ll like it."
Going back to this movie, and Reeves is going to be joined by returning cast members Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and Laurence Fishburne, along with franchise newcomers, Bill Skarsgård, Shamier Anderson, and Clancy Brown. Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, and Natalia Tena will also appear.
In the movie, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) uncovers a path to defeating the High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, he must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to be released in theaters on March 24, 2023.
