Lionsgate Pictures and Roadside Attractions, in collaboration with Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, have released the first official trailer for Kill, an upcoming Indian action-thriller that has been receiving rave reviews globally since its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival last September.
Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, known for Apurva, Hurdang, and The Gone Game, this film has already achieved an impressive 100% Certified Fresh rating on RottenTomatoes. Critics are drawing favorable comparisons to similarly-themed action films such as The Raid and The Night Comes for Us. In a glowing review, Variety described the film as "As brutal a film as the country has ever produced, Kill is a shockingly graphic action showcase from an industry that typically plays violence in a more cartoony register."
The synopsis of Kill reads: "When army commando Amrit finds out his true love Tulika is engaged against her will, he boards a New Delhi-bound train in a daring quest to derail the arranged marriage. But when a gang of knife-wielding thieves led by the ruthless Fani begins to terrorize innocent passengers on his train, Amrit takes them on himself in a death-defying kill-spree to save those around him — turning what should have been a typical commute into an adrenaline-fueled thrill ride."
The cast features Lakshya ("Amrit"), Raghav Juyal ("Fani"), Tanya Maniktala ("Tulika"), Abhishek Chauhan ("Viresh"), Ashish Vidyarthi ("Beni"), Adrija Sinha ("Aahna"), Harsh Chhaya ("Baldev Singh Thakur"), Parth Tiwari ("Siddhi"), Akshay Vichare ("Ujala"), Jitendra Kumar Sharma ("Akhilesh Jha (RPF personnel)"), Rupesh Kumar Charanpahari ("Bishnu"), Sahil Gangurde ("Badlu"), Priyam Gupta ("Kulli"), Vivek Kashyap ("Mukund"), Sameer Kumar ("Bechan"), Calib Logan ("Brahmeshwar"), Moses Marton ("Murari"), and Reyazz ("Surajbhan").
Nikhil Nagesh Bhat not only directed but also wrote the screenplay for Kill. The film is produced by Karan Johar, Guneet Monga, Apoorva Mehta, and Achin Jain, bringing together a team of highly acclaimed filmmakers.
This project marks a significant milestone for Lakshya, the film's leading man, who is making his feature film debut. He has previously made a name for himself in the television industry with roles in series such as Porus, Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Adhuri Kahaani Hamari, and Warrior High.
Kill promises to be a groundbreaking film that combines intense action sequences with a compelling narrative, showcasing a new level of brutality and realism in Indian cinema. The film's trailer has already created a buzz, and with its high-octane action and strong performances, it is poised to make a significant impact upon release. The collaboration between renowned production houses and the fresh talent involved in the film highlights the evolving landscape of Indian cinema, pushing the boundaries of storytelling and cinematic experience. As the release date approaches, anticipation continues to build for what is expected to be one of the most thrilling action films of the year.
Kill hits theaters on July 4!
