Production has officially commenced on George Miller's long-awaited Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa and while we await a more formal announcement from the studio, star Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Love and ThunderAvengers: Endgame) has revealed the film's official logo.

Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen's Gambit; The New Mutants) headlines the cast, starring as Imperator Furiosa, taking over the role from Academy Award-winner Charlize Theron.

Hemsworth will reportedly play the villain of the piece, but it was recently revealed that he will likely not be playing a young Immortan Joe and will instead play an original character made exclusively for this film.

Outside of Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth, no further cast is known just yet, although we should expect the studio to make a big announcement in the coming days. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom; Candyman) was previously attached to a leading role but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

Filming will take place in New South Wales, and the production is expected to be Australia's largest-ever, reportedly set to infuse at least $350 million AUD into the local economy and create approximately 850 jobs for locals.

Furiosa opens in theaters on May 24, 2024.
