Following an epic launch at CinemaCon earlier this week, Simon Pegg has confirmed the first official teaser trailer for Paramount's Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One will launch next month with another hotly-awaited Tom Cruise blockbuster, Top Gun: Maverick

Filming on the seventh chapter formally wrapped last September, but it's believed that Cruise and director Chris McQuarrie are still fine-tuning the sequel, hence why it was pushed into 2023. It'll be a very early look, but should be more than enough to tide us over until they're ready to debut a more substantial look sometime early next year.

We saw the teaser earlier this week during Paramount's annual presentation and were thoroughly blown away with the first look footage. To briefly recap, it opens in the desert before teasing a wide variety of exotic locations. Cruise's Ethan Hunt is spotted on a motorcycle, on a train, and in a kickass hand-to-hand fight with multiple goons. The returning Kittridge tells Hunt to stop fighting before we get quick shots of the new supporting cast, Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff. Hunt is told to pick a side and we see him and Atwell together in a car chase. Ilsa Faust is spotted with an eye patch, the whole team including Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg reunite, there is poison gas released, and even more footage of Cruise and Atwell on the run. As it starts nearing its end, we see Faust engage in a sword fight with the new villain played by Esai Morales and get the iconic shot of Cruise running. Paired with an incredible score, it ends with Cruise riding a motorcycle off a clip.

Trust me, it's even more epic than it sounds.

In addition to Cruise as the headliner, the highly anticipated McQ-directed action blockbuster will also see the return of Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, Academy Award-nominee Vanessa Kirby as the White Widow, and Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge.

Newcomers to the franchise include the aforementioned Hayley Atwell (Avengers: EndgameCaptain America: The First Avenger) as Grace, Pom Klementieff (Avengers: Endgame; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Shea Whigham (Perry Mason; Marvel's Agent Carter), Esai Morales (TitansLa Bamba), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2Hobbs & Shaw), Charles Parnell (Top Gun: MaverickTransformers: Age of Extinction), Indira Varma (Game of ThronesCarnival Row), Mark Gatiss (The FatherThe Favourite), and Cary Elwes (The Princess BrideSaw).

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One lights the fuse in theaters on July 14, 2023; with the expected franchise finale, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two, set to arrive the following year on June 28, 2024.
