Like Die Hard, but more Christmas. The action thriller Violent Night by Tommy Wirkola is currently accessible on Digital and Peacock. The Wrap has just revealed that Violent Night 2 is formally on its way. It made huge headway raking in more than 3 times its budget of $25 million with a unique take on the Jolly Man in Red that released in theaters in November 2022. The second won't get slept on like the first Christmas hit. This Cookie Cruncher is getting the original creative team as Wirkola mentions that Josh Miller and Pat Casey will return to compose Violent Night 2.
They would wait to start shooting while they put the script together, according to Wirkola. The group will be efficient with their time.
"We're talking about it and we're just making deals and getting everything in order," Wirkola said in his interview. " We have time to really crack the scrip and figure out the story."
In essence, Violent Night is a violent mash-up of various holiday favorites, such as Die Hard, Home Alone, Christmas Vacation, and Bad Santa. The film is about Santa Claus, played by David Harbour, saving a family who has been kidnapped, with John Leguizamo playing the bad guy.
On Christmas Eve, a group of professional mercenaries bursts into a mansion belonging to a wealthy family and holds everyone there prisoner. Santa Claus (Harbour) arrives on the premises and is going to demonstrate why this Nick is no saint, but the staff is unprepared for his surprise appearance. This crude defeated Santa surely packs a punch. While giving Ol' Saint Nick a distinct twist by exploring his past, Wirkola says they intend to do more in the second.
"There's stuff we left on the floor like the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, the elves. But storywise I think we have a really, really cool idea that expands on the world and scope but still keeping that tone that we love from the first one."
On top of this sequel, Harbour will have a very busy schedule coming up as he has Thunderbolts and Stranger Things season 5 set to start filming!
