The Tom and Charles Guard-directed Dead Shot might be a sleeper action-thriller if the new trailer is any indication. The British production was also written by the Guard brothers (The Uninvited), who adapted an original screenplay from Ronan Bennett (Public Enemies, Top Boy).
In turn, Bennett's original screenplay took inspiration from a 2007 book, The Road to Balcombe Street: The IRA Reign of Terror in London by Steven P. Moysey.
The film stars Aml Ameen as a British Sergeant in the Special Air Service (SAS) named Tempest who accidentally shoots and kills the pregnant wife of an Irish Republican Army (IRA) volunteer Liam Hennessy (Colin Morgan).
Hennessy witnesses the shooting and vows revenge. After being presumed dead, Hennessy escapes to London to plot his revenge.
Dead Shot hits theaters and digital OnDemand in the U.S. on August 18. The film was previously released in the U.K. on May 12.
"When a border ambush goes wrong, a retired Irish paramilitary Michael (Morgan) witnesses the fatal shooting of his pregnant wife by British Sergeant, Tempest (Ameen). Now wounded, and presumed dead, he escapes, taking his revenge to the dark and paranoid streets of 1970’s London. Raw and suspenseful, Dead Shot is an adrenaline-fueled thriller that will leave audiences weighing up the true cost of revenge."
