Kevin Grevioux, the co-creator of the Underworld franchise and the creator of the Marvel Comics powerhouse, Blue Marvel, steps behind the camera for the martial arts action thriller, King of Killers.

Alain Moussi stars as a former hitman who recently lost his wife and must come up with a huge sum of money to pay for his daughter's heart transplant.

He soon receives an offer to eliminate the world's greatest assassin for $10 million dollars but when he arrives at a meeting location to meet his potential client, he learns that it's none other than the world's top assassin who extended the offer.

Complicating things further is the fact that the world's top assassin extended the offer to several other world-class hitmen.

Speaking to the Winnipeg Free Press, Moussi revealed that in addition to starring, he also planned out the film's action scenes and fight choreography. While Moussi has starred in several action films, he makes his living as a stuntman and has previously performed stunts for Hugh Jackman in X-Men: Apocalypse and Henry Cavill in Immortals

"Early on, Kevin said, ‘Alain, I’m going to trust you,’” Moussi told the local newspaper. “I came in as the action director and to me, action has to be driven by character and story all the time."

It’s not about length, it’s not about how many beats. It’s about telling a story between two characters that are at odds and that are battling each other."

The film stars Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) as  Jorg Drakos, Stephen Dorff (Blade) as Robert Xane, Marie Avgeropoulos (The 100, 50/50) as Asha Khanna, Amy Groening ('Tis the Season to be Merry) as Karla Garan, and Moussi (Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxer: Retaliation) as Marcus Garan.

Also appearing in the film are Grevioux as Dyson Chord, Shannon Kook (The 100, The Conjuring) as Ren Hiro, Georges St-Pierre (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) as Andre LeCroix, Ryan Tarran (Jiu Jitsu) as Rick Nigel, and Zoe Worn as Kimberly Garan.

Kevin Grevioux wrote and directed the film which is based on an upcoming Darkstorm Comics graphic novel that Grevioux wrote. He is also the founder of the independent comic book publisher.

A prequel TV series which will also star Moussi is also in development.

You can now rent King of Killers on Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, or buy it on Amazon Prime Video, Vudu. The film is also playing in select theaters.

Based on a graphic novel by writer-director Kevin Grevioux, King of Killers follows former Agency hitman Marcus Garan (Alain Moussi) as he attempts to unravel the mystery behind a tragic incident," reads the movie's synopsis. "When offered a $10 million contract to eliminate the world’s greatest assassin, Marcus travels to Tokyo to meet the client (Frank Grillo), but discovers other professional killers have been invited as well. Now Marcus and the others must confront this deadly, mythical assassin…or die trying.
