After debuting the trailer during CinemaCon late last month - where director Christopher Nolan was in attendance - Universal Pictures has officially released the brand new trailer for Oppenheimer, revealing an even better look at one of this summer's most hotly-awaited releases.
The trailer was also secretly attached to IMAX screenings of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 this past weekend, so you may have already had a chance to view it the way Nolan intended for it to be seen as the film was shot entirely in IMAX and the first to shoot portions in black-and-white IMAX.
Oppenheimer will tell the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and is being described as an epic thriller, that will expand on the "pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it."
BAFTA Award-nominee Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins; Peaky Blinders) stars as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, with 3x BAFTA Award-nominated actress Emily Blunt portraying his wife Katherine "Kitty" Oppenheimer, a biologist and botanist.
Academy Award-winner Matt Damon (Jason Bourne; The Martian), 2x Academy Award-nominee Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man; Avengers: Endgame), Academy Award-nominee Florence Pugh (Black Widow; Hawkeye), Benny Safie (Uncut Gems; Obi-Wan Kenobi), Primetime Emmy-nominee Michael Angarano (Sky High; Almost Famous), Josh Hartnett (Black Hawk Down; Wrath of Man), Academy Award-winner Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody; Mr. Robot), and Academy Award-winner Kenneth Branagh (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; Murder on the Orient Express) round out the key supporting cast.

The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Christopher Nolan.
Oppenheimer is filmed in a combination of IMAX® 65mm and 65mm large-format film photography including, for the first time ever, sections in IMAX® black and white analogue photography.
