We literally only heard about this one when the poster showed up online early today, but Lionsgate has now debuted the first trailer for a new action thriller starring Gerard Butler (and his atrocious American accent) and Mike Colter.
Rather hilariously titled Plane, the movie follows a pilot (Butler) who must team-up with a dangerous criminal (Colter) to save the lives of his passengers when their jet crash-lands on a war-torn island full of very nasty foreigners.
The premise is nothing we haven't seen before ad nauseum in a multitude of action flicks, but honestly, this does look like a pretty good time - as long as you're not expecting originality!
In the white-knuckle action movie PLANE, pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island - only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help, and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye.
Plane also stars Yoson An, Daniella Pineda, Paul Ben-Victor, Remi Adeleke, Joey Slotnick, Evan Dane Taylor, Claro de los Reyes, and Tony Goldwyn, and is set to hit theaters early next year.
