Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the new trailer for their upcoming action-adventure Christmas comedy Red One, and it’s a significant upgrade from the teaser. In this trailer, Callum Drift (Dwayne Johnson) and Jack O'Malley (Chris Evans) join forces to save Santa Claus (J.K. Simmons) from an unknown threat.
This new trailer takes on a slightly more serious tone compared to the teaser, with the focus shifting to Evans' character, who now takes center stage. Recruited by the North Pole, he teams up with Johnson’s head of security in a high-stakes mission to rescue Santa from impending danger, blending action, humor, and festive spirit.
It seems the studio is emphasizing Evans' role more after his positive reception from the initial trailer. Given his current popularity following the success of Deadpool & Wolverine, it’s likely a strategic move to capitalize on his resurgence and maximize audience interest.
The main antagonist remains a mystery, but one of them appears to be Grýla (Kiernan Shipka), who briefly appears in the trailer. What she, or her potential co-conspirators, wants with Santa Claus is still unclear.
While Red One is shaping up to be a fun holiday film, it faces challenges at the box office due to its reported $250 million budget. Earlier reports suggested the costs soared due to Johnson’s alleged “chronic lateness and lack of professionalism,” though the studio has denied these claims. If the movie can deliver, it may prove to be a festive hit.

Simmons (Whiplash; Spider-Man).
Jake Kasdan (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle; Jumanji: The Next Level) helmed the feature with a screenplay from Chris Morgan (Fast Five; Shazam! Fury of the Gods).
Red One hits theaters on November 15 and will stream on Prime Video at a later date!
