Ridley Scott is back to turn another historical figure into an action superstar! Check out the first trailer for his Napoleon biopic which stars Joaquin Phoenix (Joker, Joker: Folie à Deux) as Napoleon Bonaparte.
Judging by the first trailer, if you loved Ridley Scott's dramatization of Roman Colosseum fights and the death of Marcus Aurelius in Gladiator, then you probably like what you see so far from Napoleon.
The film is written by David Scarpa and in addition to Joaquin Phoenix, also stars, Vanessa Kirby as Empress Josephine, and Tahar Rahim as General Junot.
Filming for Napoleon began in February 2022 and wrapped in May 2022. The film is scheduled to be released in cinemas on November 22, 2023, by Sony Pictures Releasing and Apple Studios, before releasing on Apple TV+ at an undetermined date.
Previously, Vanessa Kirby told Collider, "It’s epic. Joaquin is extraordinary. It’s Ridley’s finest historical biopic, really. It’s got incredible battles and an amazing character study, like Joaquin does. It was a pleasure. It was a pleasure to do it. I loved it."
