Samaritan arrives on Prime Video this Friday, and the streaming service has now dropped a brand new clip and featurette for the long-delayed movie. The latter takes us behind the scenes of the movie and reveals more about how this original superhero story was dreamed up.

As for that clip, we learn that Sylvester Stallone's senior citizen superhero still has what it takes as he makes short work of a gang causing trouble in his neighbourhood.

The Expendables star is no stranger to this genre after starring in the likes of Judge Dredd and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and he appears to be having a lot of fun here. Whether this movie ends up being a standalone tale or the start of a new franchise remains to be seen, though we can definitely see how this world could be one Stallone continues exploring in future.

This Thursday, we'll be sharing our review of Samaritan along with interviews with stars Javon "Wanna" Walton, Pilou Asbæk, and Dascha Polanco. We also got to ask Stallone a question during the movie's press conference, so you'll find plenty of exclusive coverage here!

In Samaritan, thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon "Wanna" Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbour Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis.

Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbour out of hiding to save the city from ruin.

Directed by Julius Avery from a script by Bragi F. Schut, Samaritan also stars Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias.

Check out this new clip and featurette for the movie below ahead of its release on Prime Video on August 26.
