Lionsgate has finally revealed the first official trailer for Joe Carnahan’s Shadow Force, an adrenaline-packed action film starring Primetime Emmy-winner Kerry Washington and Omar Sy as two ex-special forces operatives marked for death by their former organization.
According to the synopsis, the story follows Kyrah (Kerry Washington) and Isaac (Omar Sy), one-time leaders of a multinational special forces unit called Shadow Force. They defied protocol by falling in love and, to protect their son, vanished into hiding. Now carrying a hefty bounty on their heads, and with Shadow Force hot on their trail, the family’s flight for survival spirals into a full-scale war.
Washington (Scandal; Django Unchained; Little Fires Everywhere) and Sy (Lupin; The Intouchables; Jurassic World) take center stage, supported by Da’Vine Joy Randolph (The Holdovers; Dolemite Is My Name; Only Murders in the Building), Method Man (Power Book II: Ghost; How High; The Deuce), Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service; Shazam!; 1917), Jahleel Kamara (Candy Cane Lane; The Wonder Years; Young Dylan), Krondon (Black Lightning; Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse; Harry’s Law), Natalia Reyes (Terminator: Dark Fate; Birds of Passage; Cumbia Ninja), Yoson An (Mulan; Plane; Dead Lucky), Ed Quinn (Eureka; 2 Broke Girls; The Oval), Jénel Stevens-Thompson (Black Panther; The Woman King; Avengers: Endgame), and Marshall Cook (Film Fest; One Night in Miami...; Division III: Football's Finest).
Carnahan, who co-wrote the film with Leon Chills, has an impressive track record that includes Smokin’ Aces, The A-Team, The Grey, Stretch, Boss Level, and Copshop. In addition to Shadow Force, he’s set to release RIP on Netflix later this year, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
For comic book aficionados, Washington is fondly remembered as Alicia Masters in 2005’s Fantastic Four and its 2007 follow-up, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, while Sy portrayed Bishop in the acclaimed 2014 blockbuster X-Men: Days of Future Past. Sy also played the role of Barry in Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World, a part he later reprised in Jurassic World Dominion.
Shadow Force hits theaters on May 2!
