With SXSW just around the corner, Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the official trailer for The Accountant 2, offering fans their first glimpse at Ben Affleck reprising his role as the calculating yet deadly Christian Wolff. Joining him once again is Jon Bernthal, who returns as his formidable brother, Brax. Affleck, a two-time Academy Award winner known for Argo and The Town, is set to deliver another intense performance, while Bernthal (The Punisher, Daredevil: Born Again) brings his signature grit to the action-packed sequel.
The official synopsis teases another high-stakes thriller: "Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a mathematical genius with a knack for solving complex problems. When a former associate is murdered and leaves behind a cryptic message instructing to ‘find the accountant,’ Wolff is drawn into the mystery. Recognizing the need for additional firepower, he enlists his estranged yet equally lethal brother, Brax (Jon Bernthal). Together, they join forces with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) to unravel a conspiracy that places them in the crosshairs of a dangerous network of killers who will go to any lengths to protect their secrets."
The highly anticipated sequel will make its world premiere at SXSW on March 8, signaling confidence from the studios in the film’s potential. This early screening suggests a strategic push to generate buzz before its official theatrical release in late April.
The original The Accountant debuted in 2016 and became a surprise box office hit, earning over $155.2 million worldwide against a modest $44 million budget. Its blend of cerebral storytelling, high-octane action, and Affleck’s compelling performance cemented its place as a fan favorite. Now, with the stakes even higher and the action more intense, The Accountant 2 aims to surpass its predecessor and captivate audiences once again.
As anticipation builds, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see Affleck and Bernthal reunite for another thrilling chapter in this action-packed franchise.
In addition to Affleck and Bernthal, the supporting cast consists of Cynthia Addai-Robinson (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power; Power; Arrow), Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom; Cowboy Bebop; The Originals), Allison Robertson (Josie and the Pussycats; The Last Shot; Supergirl), and Academy Award-winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash; Spider-Man; Being the Ricardos).
Gavin O'Connor (Warrior; The Way Back; Miracle) returns to helm the sequel with a screenplay from original screenwriter Bill Dubuque (The Judge; A Family Man; Ozark).
Affleck is producing the feature alongside Matt Damon, Lynette Howell Taylor, and Mark Williams.
The Accountant 2 hits theaters on April 25!
