Lionsgate has released the first official trailer for J. J. Perry's upcoming action comedy The Killer's Game, showcasing a blood-soaked adventure featuring Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, Dune, Blade Runner 2049) as an assassin who must navigate the chaos caused by a hit he ordered on himself.

The synopsis reads: "When top hitman Joe Flood (Dave Bautista) is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands – by placing a hit on himself. But when the hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend (Sofia Boutella), he must fend off a legion of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before time runs out."

Based on Jay Bonansinga's 1997 novel, the film appears to stay true to its source material, as indicated by the trailer. The book itself has been praised for its intense action scenes and dark humor, and it looks like the movie adaptation will carry forward the same tone and excitement.

The star-studded cast includes Academy Award-winner Ben Kingsley as "Zvi", Sofia Boutella as "Maize", Terry Crews as "Lovedahl", Pom Klementieff as "Marianna", Scott Adkins as "Angus Mackenzie", Drew McIntyre as "Rory Mackenzie", Shaina West, Lucy Cork, Daniel Bernhardt as "Radovan", Lee Hoon as "Goyang", Marko Zaror as "Botas", and Raffaello Degruttola as "Dr. Kagen". Each actor brings a unique presence to the film, promising a diverse and engaging ensemble.

Bautista, renowned for his role as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has featured in Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. His portrayal of Drax has won him a significant fan following due to his comedic timing and physical presence.

His notable film credits also include Riddick, Spectre, Blade Runner 2049, Stuber, Dune, Glass Onion, Knock at the Cabin, and Dune: Part Two, the latter being this year's highest-grossing film. Bautista will also appear in the spy comedy My Spy: The Eternal City, set for release on Prime Video on July 18.

The film is directed by J. J. Perry, who has a strong background in action choreography and stunts, suggests that the action scenes will be particularly well-executed. Perry's experience in the industry includes work on major films like John Wick and Fast & Furious, which sets high expectations for the level of action in The Killer's Game.

The Killer's Game hits theaters on September 13, promising an intense and thrilling experience.
