As Jurassic World Rebirth gears up for its highly anticipated release tomorrow, Paramount has unveiled a major surprise—dropping the first official trailer for Edgar Wright’s upcoming dystopian thriller, The Running Man, starring Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Twisters, Anyone But You).
Based on Stephen King’s 1982 novel (written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman), the film reimagines a near-future society where the most popular show on television is a deadly game: contestants known as “Runners” must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional killers, all for the entertainment of a bloodthirsty audience. Each passing day increases the reward—and the danger.
Powell plays Ben Richards, a working-class father desperate to save his ailing daughter. In a last-ditch effort, he agrees to participate in the game, lured in by its charismatic but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin). But as Ben defies the odds and captures the nation’s attention, he becomes more than just a contestant—he becomes a threat to the system itself. With fame comes greater risk, and soon he’s fighting not just for survival, but for something much bigger.
This marks the second live-action adaptation of The Running Man, following the 1987 cult classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In addition to Powell, the cast features William H. Macy (Fargo; Shameless; Boogie Nights), Lee Pace (Foundation; Guardians of the Galaxy; Pushing Daisies), Emilia Jones (CODA; Locke & Key; Fairyland), Michael Cera (Superbad; Scott Pilgrim vs. the World; Juno), Daniel Ezra (All American; A Discovery of Witches; Blood Cells), Jayme Lawson (The Batman; Till; The Woman King), Colman Domingo (Euphoria; Ma Rainey's Black Bottom; Rustin), and Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men; Avengers: Infinity War; Dune).
The Running Man hits theaters, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Premium Large Format, and IMAX on November 7!
