VFX and Make-up have been the focus of Hiroshi Katagami's career in movies since he was twenty. He moved up to work on movies such as Avatar: The Way of Water and shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Mandalorian. When you add his work on Captain Marvel to the mix, Hiroshi's work is good enough that he has worked on Marvel and Star Wars plus a movie ten years in the making with Avatar.

Now that he has had time to have fun with those jobs he is choosing to become a director, filming both horror and action films. The latter is released next month so we chatted with the multi-talented Hiroshi to learn more about this movie. As he tells us, he actually does some of the action in this as well so his commitment to filmmaking is clear.

The movie is called End of Loyalty and it stars Justice Joslin (The Quarry,) Vernon Wells (Frost), and Michael Pare (The Lincoln Lawyer). Hiroshi and I talk in depth about the film as well as so much more that he's done for other movies.

Below you can see the full video interview. We also included a short bit of our conversation for those who prefer to read instead.

I was in the industry when I was nineteen and that's when I realized that I wanted to direct movies. But the make-up effects affected me so much as a kid so that's why I chose this career. The first film I directed was a Horror film, so 80 percent of the make-up side I've done myself because it's the cheapest.

End of Loyalty is an action movie so I feature a lot in the action myself. It's an action movie so I feature a lot in the action myself and I had to do something major in order to compare to the bigger-budget Hollywood Movies. And I had to do something major in order to compare to the bigger-budget Hollywood Movies. So I have to create something unique and do something different than normal movies. I have one great character who is a Japanese bodyguard. And his martial arts skill in the movie is amazing, his fighting is - it's beyond normal people and it really sells the movie.

What do you think of Hiroshi's comments? We've also included the trailer for his directorial debut, End of Loyalty. With so much to touch on, be sure to share your take in the comments section!

But as Grant's grief turns into violence and destruction, his best friend Ray, a federal agent, does everything he can to keep Grant from going off the deep end. Their friendship is tested as both men cling to their conflicting moral codes.
