Total Film has unveiled two new covers for its next issue that put the spotlight on Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. These offer a new look at Cillian Murphy as "the man who moved the Earth" in a movie that promises to tell the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb.

The amazing cast also includes Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Dane DeHaan, Dylan Arnold, David Krumholtz, Alden Eherenreich, and Matthew Modine. Like Dunkirk, it's a historical retelling of a turning point in human history, but there's still the expected level of secrecy surrounding Nolan's next blockbuster.

Based on the 2005 Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, this movie looks set to be another visual masterpiece from Nolan.

Even a sneak peek like this is damn near enough to set your pulse racing, and we can't help but believe the director has dreamed up another epic spectacle. After all, he always pushes the boundaries in terms of filmmaking, and while this is a very grounded story, it's one the first trailer suggested will be unlike anything we've seen from him before.

We anticipate new details and stills being revealed by the magazine in the coming days, and wouldn't be surprised if a trailer is right around the corner. Having that play in front of Avatar: The Way of Water on IMAX screens certainly wouldn't be the worst idea in the world, particularly as the 3D spectacle is expected to be a box office hit when it opens next weekend.

Oppenheimer arrives in theaters on July 21, 2023.
