Deadline is reporting that Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, which stars John Krasinski (The Office; A Quiet Place) in the title role, will end with season four.
The studio hasn't made a formal announcement just yet, but with Krasinski's contract reportedly running only four seasons, it seems like this was always the intended plan for the acclaimed Prime Video series and seemingly frees the 4x Primetime Emmy-nominated actor to do something fantastic in the not-so-distant future...
While we're still waiting on season three to drop, filming on the fourth season is already underway. In addition to Krasinski, the supporting cast will return Wendell Pierce (James Greer), Michael Kelly (Mike November), and Abbie Cornish (Cathy Mueller).
Ant-Man and the Wasp star Michael Peña has also joined the cast as Domingo "Ding" Chavez, another popular character from Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six franchise, and it sounds like the streamer is already high on him as the report adds that a potential spinoff series centered around Peña's character is already in the early stages of development.
Peña will debut as Ding in the third season finale, before becoming a full-fledged series regular in season four.
As for the aforementioned third season, a premiere date should be announced relatively soon and it seems likely that there won't be much of a gap between the launch of these final two seasons. The official season three synopsis reads,
"Season 3 of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan finds Jack Ryan (Krasinski) on the run and in a race against time. Jack is wrongly implicated in a larger conspiracy and suddenly finds himself a fugitive out in the cold. Now, wanted by both the CIA and an international rogue faction that he has uncovered, Jack is forced underground, crisscrossing Europe, trying to stay alive and prevent a massive global conflict."
Newcomers for season three include Betty Gabriel (Get Out; Westworld), James Cosmo (His Dark Materials; Braveheart), Peter Guinness (Zack Snyder's Justice League; Alien3), Nina Hoss (Little Sister; A Most Wanted Man), and Alexej Manvelov (Chernobyl; Before We Die).
