Peacock shared the first official trailer for Twisted Metal Season 2 today while announcing that the highly anticiapted series will return this Summer. An adaptation of the beloved PlayStation franchise of the same name, Twisted Metal's second season will finally throw fans into the demolition derby that the games are known for.
Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz are back as John Doe and Quiet, alongside Joe Seanoa and Will Arnett as the combination fo Sweet Tooth. As previously announced, Anthony Carrigan will play Calypso, the mysterious and powerful man behind the Twisted Metal tournament.
The first season of the series did a good job establishing the post-apocalyptic world of Twisted Metal, while introducing us to new and familiar characters from the video game series. Anthony Mackie's John Doe is a milkman (the universe's term for a delivery man) who transports goods between cities that have become isolated walled fortresses following a large-scale cyber attack. In the end, he successfully delivered the goods he promised, only to discover it was a test to see if he was ready to participate in the Twisted Metal touranment.
Following the Season 1 finale, John Doe and Quiet find themselves entering the deadly Twisted Metal tournament, a sinister demolition derby hosted by a mysterious man known as Calypso. As they try to survive an onslaught of dangerous new foes and familiar faces alike, including the murderous clown Sweet Tooth, things get complicated for John when he reunites with his long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface.
“The stakes couldn’t be higher as John Doe and Quiet risk their lives to compete in a dangerous demolition derby tournament. The prize? A single wish, their greatest heart's desire, granted. The only problem is 16 other drivers have wishes of their own,” teased executive producer, showrunner, and writer Michael John Smith of Season 2.
John Doe and Quiet aren't the only familiar faces you may recognize in Season 2. The trailer teased a number of characters from the video games, including Dollface and Mr. Grimm. At the very end, there's even a teaser of Axel, the fearless driver with giant monster truck tires for hands.
Season 1 featured plenty of high-octane action, and Smith described the latest season as "a fast-paced, hysterical, thrilling season with unforgettable characters."
"It’s too bad not all of them will survive," he teased. Twisted Metal Season 2 will premiere exclusively on Peacock this Summer. In the meantime, you can catch up on the first season, which is available to stream in its entirety.
