The Gray Man star Ryan Gosling will soon be seen alongside Margot Robbie (The Suicide Squad) in Warner Bros.' live-action Barbie movie, but another team-up for the Hollywood A-Listers now appears to be on the cards.
According to a new report from Puck, Gosling is now in talks to star in Robbie's planned Ocean's Eleven prequel. We don't have any news on who either one of them will be playing, unfortunately, but this will mark their third collaboration (while they never shared the screen together, both actors appeared in Adam McKay's The Big Short).
It's said that this movie will factor into Warner Bros.' plans to focus on making big screen releases, no great surprise when the franchise has made over $1.17 billion worldwide at the box office. Ocean's 8 wasn't a huge hit with critics, but still managed to earn $300 million on a $70 million budget.
We've previously heard that this Ocean's Eleven prequel will take place in 1960s Europe, the same time period as the original movie (starring Frank Sinatra as Danny Ocean in place of George Clooney). In that, Danny assembled a group of his World War II compatriots to pull off a heist in five Las Vegas casinos, and the movie ended up being a real showcase for The Rat Pack.
We're guessing the plan is to bring together a group of huge Hollywood stars, and Robbie and Gosling are a great start.
Chances are none of the original cast members will return, of course, though we may end up hearing a familiar character name or two. Hopefully, further details will be revealed as Robbie continues assembling what looks to be an awesome group of atcors.
The untitled Ocean's prequel doesn't have a release date, but we'll get to see Robbie and Gosling as Barbie and Ken on July 21, 2023.
