Those who have been waiting patiently for Season 5 of Yellowstone to arrive on streaming services won't have to wait much longer. The first half of Season 5 — which is comprised of eight episodes of the Western drama — is slated to arrive on Peacock this Thursday, May 25.

The first batch of episodes has been a hit with critics, scoring an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics consensus reads:

Galloping into the arena of politics with a decidedly nonpartisan bent, Yellowstone enters uncertain territory but remains firmly in the saddle, with Kevin Costner's steadfast presence remaining an invaluable asset.

Previously, only Seasons 1-4 of the hit show were available to stream on Peacock. Season 5 either had to pay for cable or watch the latest episodes on the Paramount Network website (which is separate from Paramount+). Finally, the confusion will end and it'll all be in one place.

Unfortunately, this is about the only good news fans have gotten about Yellowstone in recent weeks. The wait for the second half of season five has been filled with drama, mostly regarding the series' lead actor Kevin Costner.

Reports of scheduling conflicts and demands from Costner have dominated the headlines with rumors that the star would be leaving the series even before Season 5 films its final episodes. Paramount has since announced that not only is Season 5 getting pushed to November, but it will also be the last season of Yellowstone. And we still don't know how involved Costner will be in the second half.

Speaking of the second half, the final episodes of Yellowstone will air in the same format, debuting on cable and Paramount Network first before arriving on peacock months later. After that, it'll be the end of the series, but not necessarily the end of the franchise.

There's both a new sequel series as well as another season of 1923, the second prequel series following 1883, slated to arrive. There's also another spin-off series, 6666, which “takes place when Comanches still ruled West Texas and no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. So there will be plenty of Yellowstone-related content for fans to enjoy long after Yellowstone has ended.

Yellowstone is a drama series that follows the Dutton family, led by patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner). The Duttons control the largest contiguous ranch in the U.S. and must contend with constant attacks by land developers, clashes with an Indian reservation and conflict with America's first national park.
